PIRAEUS | A walk around town

Piraeus is now a large and very active city. Its quarters are full of life and many of them preserve their former colour.

Upon leaving the railway station, you will see the enormous port with the ships waiting to travel you to many place in Greece.
All the offices of the shipping companies are at Karaiskaki Square.
From Poseidonos Coast, after Miaoule Coast, you will reach the “Roloi” Square, where used to be the old Town Hall with a large clock on one of its towers.

Following Georgiou A’ Avenue, you will reach the Cathedral and Korai Square, where the neoclassic building of the Town Hall is.

At the central market you will see some of the shops of the old fish and meat market and many peddlers that bring back memories of the old Piraeus.

Leaving the center of Piraeus, you will visit Pasalimani, which is full of cafes, taverns and bars. One of the most beautiful neighbourhoods is Phreatida. Down the road from its square is Marina Zeas with lots of stores. Kastella, which spreads upon the hill, certainly has the best view and it leads up to the graphic small church of Prophetes Elias. Here you will find several taverns and bars. Peiraike is one of the most beautiful scenic neighbourhoods with many ouzo taverns where you can enjoy your ouzo gazing at the sea. Finally, the same more or less scenery offers Tourkolimano with taverns and ouzo taverns next to the sea.
